5 TNA LEGENDS WE WANT BACK: PART 1

Over the past few years, we have seen a few pro-wrestling legends of yesteryear return to have another run in the WWE; including the likes of Goldberg, Batista, and more recently, Edge. But, besides WWE, what if we could see other legends from other companies return to have another successful crack at the business? Over these next 5 blogs I will be taking a look at 5 legends from TNA that I would love to see have one more run with the company.

Firstly, we will be focusing on who comes in the number 5 spot: BEER MONEY

Beer Money are arguably one of the most successful tag teams in TNA history, and its easy to see why. 5-time TNA tag team champions and winners of the Team 3D Invitational Tournament in 2009. The team were also named Pro-wrestling Illustrated’s Tag Team of the Year twice: in 2008 and 2011.

Storm and Roode first teamed up in 2008, and quickly went on to defeat LAX to capture their first title in the company, before feuding with the team of Abyss and Matt Morgan. At the start of 2009, they introduced the popular ‘Off the Wagon Open Challenge’ where any 2 wrestlers could form a tag team and challenge for the TNA tag team titles. Throughout the rest of 2009 they then feuded with likes of Team 3D, British Invasion and the Main Event Mafia.

After Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan became a part of TNA in 2010, Beer Money formed a heel faction along with AJ Styles and Desmond Wolfe, and called themselves ‘Fortune’.

In one of their most memorable feuds in TNA, Beer Money would eventually lose to the Motor City Machine Guns in a best of 5 series, despite taking the first 2 matches. After eventually regaining the titles in 2011, Storm and Roode would then go onto have a 212 day title reign – the longest in the company’s history, before finally dropping the titles to Mexican America.

After James Storm won the TNA World title in 2011, Bobby Roode then shockingly turned on his tag team partner on the following episode of Impact Wrestling. After hitting Storm in face with a beer bottle, he then captured his first TNA World Title, dissolving Beer Money and turning heel in the process.

After 3 years of not being a tag team, Storm and Roode reunited on January 2nd 2014, defeating the team of Kurt Angle and Gunner. However, they were on the losing side a month later at TNA’s One Night Only Jokers Wild event, where they lost out to The Wolves.

Once again in 2016, Storm and Roode reunited – this time on Impact’s debut on POP, when James Storm saved his former partner from the team of Eric Young and Bram. Soon after, they won the Feast or Fired briefcase which guaranteed them a title shot for the TNA world Tag Team Titles. Beer Money cashed in the briefcase on March 8th of 2016, and won their final tag titles together. However, this was a short title reign as they quickly lost the titles to Decay on March 19th 2016. Bobby Roode soon after left TNA and signed for WWE, ultimately dissolving Beer Money for the final time.

With such a great history in TNA, Beer Money would make no doubt bring some noise to Impact, should they decide to return. A popular tag team, with much life in them yet; can we ask for one more run for Beer Money in TNA? Possibly even a crack at the tag titles one more time? If it were to happen, it would no doubt be an interesting watch for fans.
