OSPREAY TO VACATE IWGP HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE

NJPW have announced that Will Ospreay sustained a neck injury during night two of Wrestling Dontaku in Fukuoka. As a result, Ospreay will be vacating the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

Opsreay has held the title since defeating Kota Ibushi at Sakura Genesis on April 4th, becoming the first British holder of NJPW’s top championship. Ospreay since made his first defense of the title, successfully defeating Shingo Takagi on May 4th. It is during this match where the injury is reported to have occurred.

NJPW announced on May 20th that Ospreay will not be participating in the next series of events, as he will be returning to the UK for treatment and rehabilitation. It is unknown how long he will be out of action.
