Jonah, better known to WWE audiences as Bronson Reed first popped up in WWE on the July 17th episode of NXT in the breakout tournament beating Dexter Lumis. Shortly after, Reed was in and out of some minor feuds with the likes of LA Knight, Roderick Strong and Karrion Kross. It was then when Bronson Reed challenged for the NXT North American Championship in a steel cage match knocking off then champion, Johnny Gargano.
Reed held the title for 42 days before dropping the title to Isaiah “Swerve” Scott. Bronson’s last match for the company would be against Adam Cole on the July 27th episode before he was released shortly after on August 6th.
Since then Bronson Reed has been going by the ring name ‘Jonah’ where he wrestles in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Although his career has been on the up since joining New Japan, his former company seems to have offered him a contract to re-sign with the company.
Dave Meltzer provided an update on the situation on the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. Dave said:
JONAH certainly has an offer from WWE. And he’s gotta make a move decision. It’ll either be New Japan or WWE. He got a great push in New Japan, and it’s gonna be his call.”
As noted, since departing the company, Jonah has competed for New Japan and has a little stint in Impact wrestling. We will keep you updated with any news breaking on the situation.
