Who should dethrone Roman Reigns?
Roman Reigns has been a predominant feature on WWE television for the better part of the last 10 years since his debut as a part of The Shield. Roman has gone on to have a hall of fame worthy career, becoming a six time world champion, Intercontinental champion, United States champion and Royal Rumble winner. Through all of this though has come what some are calling the best work of his career.
Due to his previous health issues, Reigns was pulled from a match against Goldberg and was replaced by long time rival, Braun Strowman. Strowman would go on to become the Universal champion and enter a feud with The Fiend Bray Wyatt. It was then when Roman Reigns made his return to the WWE. Roman Reigns became Universal champion at Summerslam on the 24th of August 2020 and has yet to be beaten. So today we’re going to look into who should be the one to dethrone the Tribal Chief. Let’s get started.
There are only a select few people who could end Romans Reign that would make sense, the first of those being the most obvious right now, Cody Rhodes. Cody’s return to the company back in April saw his stardom rise to the top as he was quickly placed as the top baby face on the Raw roster. Unfortunately due to injury Cody was taken out of action, but it looks as though he could be good to go by the Royal Rumble. If Cody does return in the Royal Rumble match then it could be a sure fire way to shoot him into the main event of Wrestlemania against Reigns and fulfil his dreams of becoming the WWE Champion.
Let’s say Cody Rhodes doesn’t win the Royal Rumble, then the only logical next step would be none other than The Rock. Romans own cousin who has been rumoured to have a match with Roman Reigns for the past few years since his reign started. This could be perfectly executed by having The Rock simply proclaim that Roman isn’t the head of the table until he has beaten ‘The Great One’. The Rock Vs. Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania sounds pretty good to me. This also leaves room open for Cody to possibly take the titles from Reigns at Summerslam, should Roman beat The Rock.
The final man who could be a possibility in dethroning the ‘Head of the Table’ is a complete wildcard that I myself would love to see. That being the current Intercontinental Champion, GUNTHER. Gunther has been a dominant champion in his own right beating the likes of Ricochet, Rey Mysterio and Sheamus. Gunther could continue to build up his legacy with the Intercontinental title, until eventually he starts to target Roman Reigns. We could get some incredible matches between The Bloodline and Imperium, and could even throw in a stipulation to the match and have Roman Vs. Gunther in a last man standing match.
In my final verdict, the man who ultimately should dethrone Roman Reigns should be….
