Saraya: Triple H offered me a chance to wrestle or be GM before signing with AEW.
During a recent interview with Metro UK, former WWE superstar Paige, now going by the name Saraya in AEW, has said that Triple H offered her roles so she would stay with WWE. Hunter, now head of creative in WWE, had just taken over the reigns from Vince McMahon and by the sounds of it was hopeful that Saraya would stick around.

Saraya said in the interview: “Man, I do love Hunter, he’s so fantastic. He was like, ‘Wait what happened?!’ [about her contract expiring]. I was like, ‘I dunno, they haven’t renewed my contract.’ He was like, ‘Oh my gosh! Well I didn’t know that, so I’m sorry!’ He was really fantastic. He did give me the opportunity to potentially be a GM again, and give me the opportunity to be like, ‘If you ever potentially want to wrestle again, I’ll give you that opportunity too.’ He was very open about any ideas that I had.”
Saraya was very appreciative of the offer HHH gave her but was too tempted by the goings on in AEW.
The former WWE Diva’s Champion continued: “When AEW started you’re kinda like, ‘ooh, what’s going on over there?’ It’s like the movie, the bad boy with a leather jacket and a cigarette, kinda cruising in the background like, ‘Who’s that bad boy?’ You’re definitely intrigued by the company! Just seeing how quickly in three years that it’s built – I’m like, this company! You have the bad, tribal fans, but whether you like them or not you can’t fault how amazing it is to become another goliath company like that.”
Saraya was released by WWE in July 2022 after her announcement that the company would not be renewing her contract, the last match she wrestled with the company was actually in 2017 after being forced into early retirement due to a neck injury. One month later, Saraya made her AEW debut at the Grand Slam edition of Dynamite in September 2022. She had her first match in nearly 5 years at AEWs November PPV Full Gear in a victory over Britt Baker. She will have her 2nd match with the company on the January 11th edition of Dynamite, in a tag match with partner Toni Storm going up against Britt Baker and current AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter.
