Fightful Select have reported that AJ Styles had discussions with people within NJPW about an appearance at Wrestle Kingdom 17.
The pitch that Styles made was to be at ringside with Karl Anderson but the idea ultimately didn’t happen and Styles would also suffer a serious injury before the show.
The report also states the reason Luke Gallows did not accompany his tag team partner to the ring was also a call made by NJPW officials.
