Back in December Matt Riddle was written off of TV after a storyline attack from Solo Sikoa. This was done for the WWE to get Riddle off of television and into rehab after he failed a drug test. Riddle was booked into rehab and was set to be out anywhere between 30-90 days. Earlier this month Riddle confirmed he was out of rehab after posting a photo on his twitter of him and his family in a restaurant.
Recently though, fans have speculated that Riddle would be one of the names to make his return at the Royal Rumble tomorrow night in San Antonio Texas. However in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Riddle recently got his BJJ black belt while training under Daniel Gracie.
Meltzer also noted that the former United States champion might not be back in time for the Rumble match due to his second suspension despite WWE initially announcing on December 12th that he would be gone for six weeks.
Meltzer wrote “Riddle was announced as returning in six weeks after the injury angle on 12/12. That would indicate a Rumble return, although if he’s suspended for two months, he wouldn’t make it in the timeline.”
