Top 5 Moments & Match Ratings For Smackdown (4/28)

It was the draft this week on Smackdown as focus shifted to which superstars would end up on which brand. It’s certainly a big show for the WWE so let’s see how it all went down. Here are our top 5 moments and match ratings from Smackdown this past week.

5 Smackdown Acquisitions

Smackdown got the first pick and obviously chose the Undisputed Champion Roman Reigns along with Paul Heyman and Solo Sikoa as The Bloodline. They then selected Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair which was a big get. Furthermore, The Street Profits, Edge, Bobby Lashley, The OC, Damage CTRL and the NXT Women’s Tag Champions Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn will be competing on Friday nights. Some good gets for Smackdown.

4 Women’s Division Needs Star Power

It was clear from the Women’s match this week, that the division needs star power. The match was #1 contender Zelina Vega defeating Sonya Deville in a short and awkward match. No doubt that Rhea Ripley is a mega star, however apart from her, there isn’t really a lot there to get the fans excited. Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez team hasn’t clicked properly and no one else really gets a push, the acquisition of Bianca Belair will certainly help things.

3 Great Main Event

The main event this week was a rematch from the epic main event of Wrestlemania night 1, pitting Tag Champions Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn against The Usos for the Undisputed Tag Team Championships. It was a very good match with some great false finishes and the crowd were into it a lot during the closing sequences. Ultimately KO & Sami got the win with a Stunner and Helluva Kick in an exciting main event. One drawback.. too many Super Kicks.

2 Clunky Draft

The draft is confusing. We’re told that there are brand exclusives, yet in previous years, WWE have never stuck to it with superstars frequently appearing on both shows so it’s difficult to buy in to the draft. Also it seemed random who could be selected on Smackdown and who would be picked on Raw with only a handful of superstars apparently eligible to be drafted meaning acts like Miz and Damage CTRL were selected before Seth Rollins and Charlotte Flair. Also with Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair now on Smackdown, does Rhea Ripley automatically go to Raw and another belt swap happens? We’ll see how things turn out.

1 What’s Next For The Usos

There was a lot of foreshadowing for The Usos this week on Smackdown. The former Tag Champs were shown throughout the show, with Paul Heyman giving them instructions directly from Roman Reigns, essentially putting pressure on them to reclaim the titles and hinting there would be consequences if they lost. Furthermore The Usos were notably not drafted along with the rest of The Bloodline, sewing potential seeds of dissension and possibly a break up. We’ll see what happens when the draft continues on Monday night Raw.

Street Profits def LWO and Braun Strowman & Ricochet 2.75*
