In a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, former WWE wrestler Dean Muhtadi, known by his ring name Mojo Rawley, discussed his longing to step back into the wrestling ring. Muhtadi, who hasn’t competed since his loss to Chad Gable on the June 15, 2020 edition of SmackDown, was released by WWE in April 2021 after being away from the ring for ten months.
Despite keeping busy with various projects, Muhtadi admitted that he has missed wrestling so much that watching it has become a challenge. He revealed, “Man, I’m getting that itch, brother. And I’ve had that itch since my last match with WWE, which, as crazy as it is to say, was almost three years ago.”
Muhtadi acknowledged that his battle with COVID-19 during the first year of the pandemic prevented him from wrestling even if he wanted to. However, he has had other opportunities that have kept him occupied and financially stable. Still, he expressed his longing for wrestling, saying, “I missed it, bro… It’s hard to watch recently, I’ve started to watch a little bit more just because I miss it so much. You want to be out there. You’re not meant to be on the sidelines when you’re a competitor. So, it’s challenging to watch others when you’re not at that time. But I am getting that itch.”
Despite his absence from the ring, Muhtadi maintains connections with his former WWE colleagues. Notably, he recently traveled to Japan to support Mercedes Martinez at a wrestling event.
Muhtadi’s comments reveal his continued passion for professional wrestling and his desire to make a return. Fans will undoubtedly keep an eye out for any potential developments in his wrestling career.
