All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is set to make a groundbreaking announcement during a special event on Wednesday, May 17. Reports indicate that the highly anticipated creation of AEW Collision, a brand-new Saturday night show, will be officially unveiled, accompanied by a significant television deal between AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery in the United States.
According to insider sources, the newly inked agreement will grant Warner Bros. Discovery exclusive rights to broadcast AEW programming within the US market. This development explains the recent discontinuation of AEW’s YouTube shows, Dark and Dark: Elevation, as part of the effort to consolidate content distribution through Warner Bros. Discovery’s platforms.
Initial rumors suggested that AEW’s television deal would amount to an impressive $1 billion. However, industry expert Wade Keller of PWTorch reports that the estimates fell short. The new deal is expected to be valued at approximately $240 million per year for five years, totaling a staggering $1.2 billion. This agreement signifies a substantial financial boost for AEW, with an average weekly revenue of $4.6 million.
In addition to AEW Collision, insiders suggest that a content agreement between AEW and the Max streaming service will also be announced. Speculation has arisen that AEW’s highly regarded event, AEW All In, might be broadcast on Max in the United States, effectively avoiding the scheduling conflict of running two pay-per-view events within a seven-day span.
It is worth noting that AEW programming has been featured on Warner Bros. Discovery networks since 2019. The promotion previously secured a four-year extension in early 2020, valued at $175 million.
Currently, AEW Dynamite airs on Wednesday nights on TBS, while AEW Rampage typically occupies the Friday night slot on TNT. Fans can anticipate AEW Collision to dominate the Saturday night lineup from 8 pm to 10 pm Eastern Time on TNT, offering yet another exciting avenue for AEW to showcase its thrilling brand of professional wrestling.
