After much anticipation, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and THQ Nordic have officially announced that AEW Fight Forever, the promotion’s highly awaited console video game, will hit the market on Thursday, June 29. The game will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Kenny Omega, the Creative Director of AEW Fight Forever, expressed his excitement about the game’s release, saying, “When I first joined AEW, Tony Khan gave me the opportunity to assemble the best gaming team that understands and respects professional wrestling, to create the best wrestling games ever. Through our amazing collaboration with Geta, YUKE’s, and THQ Nordic, we are entering a new era of professional wrestling gaming. AEW: Fight Forever has exceeded my highest expectations, and I am confident that June 29 will be a monumental day for wrestling fans and gamers alike.”
In the press release unveiling the launch of AEW Fight Forever, both All Elite Wrestling and THQ Nordic highlighted the game’s “retro approach to design, including hand-crafted animations and a nostalgic arcade feel.” The game will feature various modes, including a career mode, multiplayer options, and multiple customization modes.
AEW Fight Forever offers an array of match types for players to enjoy, including single matches, tag-team bouts, 3-way and 4-way matches, ladder matches, the Casino Battle Royale, falls count anywhere matches, unsanctioned lights-out matches (allowing the use of weapons and plenty of blood), and even exploding barbed wire death matches.
Although a full roster has yet to be revealed, All Elite Wrestling had previously announced in 2020 that a console video game was in development. Playable characters will include renowned AEW talents such as Kenny Omega, MJF, Nyla Rose, Britt Baker, Cody Rhodes, Darby Allin, and Chris Jericho.
Wrestling enthusiasts and gaming aficionados alike can look forward to AEW Fight Forever, a game that aims to deliver an immersive and nostalgic wrestling experience. With its upcoming release, AEW and THQ Nordic are poised to make a significant impact in the world of professional wrestling gaming.
