Potential Blockbuster Main Event for WrestleMania 40 Revealed in Early Discussions

Reports have surfaced revealing a potential main event for WrestleMania 40, which is scheduled to take place on April 6 and 7, 2024 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

According to the reputable wrestling news source, WRKD Wrestling, discussions have already begun within WWE about the marquee match for next year’s grand event. Shortly after the conclusion of the May 22, 2023 episode of WWE Raw, WRKD Wrestling took to Twitter to share the intriguing details.

While it’s important to note that plans can undergo significant changes over the course of a year, the reported main event being considered for WrestleMania 40 is Cody Rhodes versus Gunther. Both wrestlers have previously expressed their interest in working together, and they are widely regarded as the top face and heel respectively on the Raw roster.

Notably, Rhodes and Gunther shared a memorable encounter earlier this year during the Royal Rumble, where they were the final two participants. Gunther, starting at number one, battled Rhodes, who entered the ring at the coveted thirtieth spot. Rhodes emerged victorious, eliminating Gunther and winning the Rumble match.

Since his promotion to the WWE main roster in April 2022, Gunther has remained undefeated in singles competition, establishing himself as a dominant force. On the other hand, Rhodes, since his return to WWE in April 2022, has suffered only two losses: one to Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 39 and another in a recent triple threat match on Raw involving Finn Balor and The Miz, where Brock Lesnar interfered and cost Rhodes the victory.

While it’s crucial to approach these discussions with caution, the potential clash between Rhodes and Gunther at WrestleMania 40 has already generated substantial excitement among fans. As the road to WrestleMania unfolds, fans eagerly anticipate the evolution of these plans and the potential realization of this highly anticipated showdown.
