Since July 2012, WWE Raw has enjoyed a three-hour duration, expanding its airtime following the milestone Raw 1000 episode. In contrast, SmackDown has maintained a two-hour format, which has contributed to its reputation as the more popular flagship show, given its shorter runtime.
However, recent discussions within WWE have revolved around the potential addition of a third hour to SmackDown, according to WWE CEO Nick Khan’s remarks during the JPMorgan Global TMT Teleconference. Khan indicated that the company is open to the idea of expanding the show’s duration, emphasizing the versatility of WWE’s programming that could feasibly air on any night of the week.
Khan’s statement follows his previous acknowledgment that WWE is receptive to the concept of relocating SmackDown to a different night, highlighting the organization’s willingness to explore new possibilities for the show’s scheduling.
