Chris Jericho’s interactions with hotel staff have been the subject of controversy in the past. His social media outbursts have attracted attention from wrestling enthusiasts worldwide. However, it’s important to consider both sides of the story, suggesting that Chris Jericho may not be entirely blameless in these incidents.
During an episode of Jim Cornette’s Experience podcast, the seasoned manager shared a letter from a fan that recounted a hotel incident involving Jericho. The incident purportedly took place in Belfast in July 2022 and led to the former AEW Champion’s arrest.
The letter read as follows:
“I was contacted by a close friend who happens to be a police officer in the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI). He showed me bodycam footage of an intoxicated, aggressive individual flexing his muscles in the corridor of a local hotel in Belfast. The individual in question was Chris Jericho. The police were called due to reports of loud music, aggressive behavior towards hotel staff, and disturbances that were disturbing the peace in the hotel room he was occupying. My friend happened to be one of the responding officers.” [01:46 – 02:25]
The fan suggested that Jericho’s rock-and-roll tendencies and lifestyle might contribute to his conflicts with hotel staff. Cornette continued to read from the letter:
“My friend recognized Jericho and attempted to defuse the situation and restore calm. Jericho responded by raising his arms and flexing his muscles in an attempt to assert dominance over the officers. He also exclaimed phrases such as ‘Don’t you know who I am?’—typical remarks one would expect from an intoxicated person. Consequently, he was arrested by the officers. I believe he was released once he sobered up a few hours later, but this incident certainly left me amused.” [02:27 – 03:00]
Fortunately, no significant or lasting damage was caused. Nevertheless, this entertaining anecdote sheds light on the behind-the-scenes experiences of the renowned AEW wrestler.
