According to Fightful Select, a number of matches that had been advertised and planned for the show were subject to last-minute changes. For instance, the highly anticipated triple threat match involving Money in the Bank opponents Santos Escobar, LA Knight, and Butch was abruptly altered, giving way to a singles match between Knight and Rey Mysterio. Additionally, a Charlotte Flair match was unexpectedly added to the lineup, while the Bayley vs. Shotzi bout, which held significant Money in the Bank implications, was regrettably scrapped.
Confirming WRKD Wrestling’s report on Twitter, Fightful Select highlighted the growing frustration among backstage talent due to these constant changes that persisted throughout the day. One individual even questioned if SmackDown had fallen victim to Vince McMahon’s impulsive decision-making. It has become increasingly commonplace for WWE’s shows to undergo sudden last-minute alterations, despite Vince McMahon’s absence from every event.
