AEW President Tony Khan appears to be interested in luring a former WWE star back into the wrestling ring after a hiatus of over three years.
Chris Hero, formerly known as Kassius Ohno, has been seen backstage at AEW events recently, working as a trial basis backstage producer since the debut of AEW Collision on June 17. However, the renowned ROH veteran has not competed in a wrestling match since participating in a battle royal on NXT UK in March 2020.

In response to a Twitter user suggesting that Chris Hero should join this year’s Blood & Guts match, Tony Khan provided an intriguing reply, stating, “I’m chipping away on him.” This response suggests that AEW has potential plans for Hero beyond his current backstage producer role, should he be enticed to return to the ring.
Notably, Hero is surrounded by familiar faces in AEW, as several of his former ROH colleagues, including CM Punk, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, and Bryan Danielson, have already joined the company.
The upcoming Blood & Guts match on July 17 currently has two open spots, with both the Elite and Blackpool Combat Club teams needing to fill one slot. While it is anticipated that former NJPW star Kota Ibushi may secure the final spot on The Elite team, a surprising report has emerged, indicating that CM Punk has expressed interest in participating in the match.
