According to an update from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Pillman was observed training at the WWE Performance Center on Thursday (July 13). It should be noted that this doesn’t confirm Pillman’s affiliation with WWE, as he might have simply visited the PC after his contract expired.
Since Pillman’s departure was due to the contract ending rather than a release, he would not be subject to a non-compete clause, allowing him the freedom to explore other opportunities.
WWE, under Vince McMahon’s leadership and following the sale to Endeavor, has not made any major signings on the main roster thus far in 2023. However, there have been reports of former WWE star Carlito re-signing with the company, although his planned return at last week’s SmackDown at Madison Square Garden was postponed.
Additionally, Japanese standout Utami Hayashishita was recently seen training with WWE’s Natalya and IYO SKY during her visit to the United States.
