Pro Wrestling NOAH has announced the match and the opponent for Naomichi Marufuji for his 25th Anniversary show. The match will be a dream match which will see Marufuji face NJPW’s Will Ospreay. The match will be set for the “True Flight – Naomichi Marufuji Debut 25th Anniversary Event” taking place on September 17 from Korakuen Hall Tokyo Japan.

This Dream match marks the first singles bout between the two. They teamed together alongside Toru Yano in a six-man tag bout at NJPW Wrestling World 2016 In Taiwan to defeat Juice Robinson, Ryusuke Taguchi & Tomoaki Honma.
Marufuji began his wrestling career in August 1998 coming through the AJPW dojo system. He then left AJPW alongside others in the renowned AJPW exodus which resulted in the founding of NOAH where he has been ever since.
Will Ospreay gets his wish as Following AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door where he defeated Kenny Omega to win back the IWGP US Heavyweight Championship, Ospreay stated he would like to face Marufuji, calling him his idol. He hoped NJPW and NOAH could work something out and even suggested maybe at Marufuji’s upcoming anniversary show. Looks like the higher ups of Both NOAH & NJPW listened and made it happen.
