The on-hold WWE storyline that had been temporarily halted appeared to make a comeback during the August 7 episode of Monday Night Raw. As tensions within The Judgment Day faction continued to escalate following SummerSlam, backstage scenes on Raw featured Finn Balor engaged in conversation with JD McDonagh. During the show, Damian Priest approached Balor and requested a private discussion about “Judgment Day business.” However, Balor allowed Priest to speak openly in front of McDonagh due to their history together.

As the segment unfolded, McDonagh expressed his opinions on the faction’s issues, highlighting that tensions had grown worse since Priest secured the Money in the Bank briefcase. The segment concluded with Priest questioning McDonagh’s decision to speak at all.
Later in the show, McDonagh intervened to aid Judgment Day by attacking Sami Zayn backstage. This occurred just before Zayn was set to team up with Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes to face Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Dominik Mysterio in the main event. Zayn was subsequently replaced by Shinsuke Nakamura, who executed a heel turn to conclude the show.
For some time, speculation has revolved around McDonagh potentially becoming a member of Judgment Day. Reports from May indicated that WWE was considering incorporating the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion into the faction. In mid-July, WRKD Wrestling revealed that plans to include McDonagh in the stable had been “halted for the time being.” However, Monday’s Raw episode strongly suggests that these plans have now been reactivated.
