NJPW G1 Climax 33 Night 17 and we have left the blocks behind and its quarterfinals time from Funabashi, Chiba.
Night 17 is where things heat up and it is single elimination from here on out, if you lose here you are out. On the multi man tag matches we saw the team of Shota Umino, Tanga Loa, Tama Tonga & El Phantasmo team up to defeat Minoru Suzuki, Ren Narita, El Desperado, & Hiroyoshi Tenzan. It was noted in the post match comments that it seems like ELP has made some friends and left the past behind with G.o.D, perhaps more surprising is that Shota Umino seems also on good terms with them.
In perhaps the upset of the night and to many an annoying result was in the semi-main event of the night which saw EVIL get the win over IWGP World Heavyweight Champion SANADA meaning EVIL is still in the G1. The main event was a classic NJPW banger as Kazuchika Okada defeated Zack Sabre Jr, the match had all the technical and hard hitting action but once again ZSJ could not overcome the mountain that is Okada.
