Update On Edge Possibly Signing For AEW

Is Edge’s Move to AEW on the Horizon?
While the name “Edge” is a WWE trademark, the possibility of Adam Copeland making his way to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) seems to be gaining traction according to a new report from Fightful Select.

In an interview with ET, Edge revealed that his match against Sheamus marked the final bout of his current WWE contract, which reportedly extends through September. Although this information has yet to be independently verified, it’s important to note that the conclusion of a last match doesn’t necessarily dictate the status of the contract. For instance, Goldberg’s contract was extended well beyond his last contracted match. Additionally, Edge has a history of cryptic Twitter posts, like the ones in 2019 where he hinted at not being cleared for a return to the ring. While WWE sources suggested that Edge’s contract was extended due to injury, individuals close to Edge have not confirmed this.

Within AEW circles, there’s a growing belief that Copeland’s entrance into the company could be a plausible scenario. People close to him hinted earlier this year that the idea of him joining AEW is not as far-fetched as it might seem. Notably, Edge shares a connection with Christian, as well as Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, who aided his preparation for his wrestling comeback.

Even before Edge’s statement about his final match on his contract, speculation about his potential move to AEW was circulating among many in the promotion.

It’s important to highlight that WWE has become notably quieter about contract renewals, extensions, and even releases or expirations.

Tony Khan, the mind behind AEW, expressed interest in bringing Edge on board back in 2019, before an in-ring return was even confirmed. Edge engaged in discussions with Vince McMahon, during which McMahon preferred the return to occur within WWE. This led to WWE arranging medical evaluations and tests, ultimately culminating in Edge’s comeback.
