WWE Honors the Legacies of Bray Wyatt and Terry Funk

Last week, the wrestling world bid farewell to two legendary figures. On August 23, Terry Funk passed away, followed by the passing of Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) on August 24.

The August 25 episode of WWE SmackDown began with a heartfelt tribute. Wrestlers from the WWE roster gathered at the top of the ramp, where a solemn ten-bell salute was sounded in memory of Funk and Wyatt. A touching video package was showcased, celebrating Bray Wyatt’s life and accomplishments. The segment concluded with a poignant visual of an empty rocking chair, illuminated in the center of a spotlight.

Standing prominently at the forefront of this tribute was Erick Rowan. Although he is not currently signed to WWE, Rowan played a significant role as one of the original Wyatt Family members, along with Bray and Luke Harper (Brodie Lee). The loss of Harper in December 2020 had previously marked a sorrowful chapter for the Wyatt Family.

The closing moments of WWE SmackDown held deep significance. Bray’s lantern illuminated the ring, while an evocative image of him graced the screen. Responding to the emotional tribute, fans filled the arena with the glow of their “fireflies,” all the while chanting “Thank You, Bray.” This moving spectacle underscored the profound impact of Funk and Wyatt, their influence forever etched in the annals of wrestling history.
