About a week after AEW parted ways with CM Punk due to his physical altercation with Jack Perry at AEW All In 2023, the promotion has also decided to sever ties with Punk’s close associate, Ace Steel.
Punk had advocated for AEW to rehire Steel after they had let him go following his involvement in last year’s All Out brawl. After Punk’s departure, it became apparent to many that Steel’s departure might be imminent as well.

Prior to Punk’s highly anticipated return to AEW for the premiere of Collision, there had been a rift between him and AEW regarding the rehiring of Steel. This even led to Punk’s temporary removal from the AEW Collision announcement, only for Steel to eventually be rehired, allowing Punk to proceed with his return.
Pwinsider has recently reported that AEW released Steel from his contract today. It’s worth noting that Steel had been working remotely, away from Collision shows, in an effort to prevent any conflicts or issues with other talent.
