Rick Boogs Suspects WWE Release Resulted from a ‘Backstage Political Powerplay’

Rick Boogs was among the wrestlers released by WWE on September 21 as part of a mass talent release. His last match was at WWE SummerSlam 2023 in the Slim Jim Battle Royal. Boogs shared a brief comment about his release in his Vlog.

“It’s been an interesting time in my life with my job in WWE being terminated due to a backstage political powerplay, at least that’s my opinion of it, but now is not the time to talk about that. I will get into detail about that when the time is right,” he said. “It’s not time, but when I do and can speak freely, it’s going to be juicy. I’m talking about all the nitty gritty details.”

It remains uncertain when Boogs will provide additional comments regarding his release. He joined WWE in 2017 and briefly teamed up with Shinsuke Nakamura, playing Nakamura’s theme on his guitar. Their partnership led them to face The Usos (Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso) for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 38, where Boogs unfortunately sustained a torn quadriceps and patellar tendon during the match.
