Pro Wrestling NOAH’s “GRAND SHIP 2023 in NAGOYA” was held on September 24 at the Aichi-Nagoya Congress Center which was headlined by the main event which saw GHC Heavyweight Champion Jake Lee defeand agains N-1 Victory 2023 winner Go Shiozaki.
Some key take aways included some title changes. First, Timothy Thatcher and Saxon Huxley’s bid to retain the GHC Tag Team Championship took a hit as they faced a formidable challenge in Good Looking Guys (GLG) Jack Morris and Anthony Greene. The GLG duo managed to wrestle the belts away from them when, Morris secured the victory by pinning Thatcher (17:38) after executing a Tiger Driver, which followed a devastating Spine Buster. Meanwhile, Greene ensured Huxley remained out of the equation by delivering a Tornillo outside the ring.
New champions where going to be crowned as the Vacant GHC Jr Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships where up for grabs. The match saw Los Golpeadores, comprised of Dragon Bane and Alpha Wolf, emerged as the new GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. They clinched the vacant title belts by overcoming the formidable duo of Ninja Mack and Alejandro. The decisive moment came when Bane secured the victory by pinning Alejandro (18:12) by executing the Twister Bane for the triumphant win.
Next, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. successfully defended his GHC National Championship (V6) in a ferocious showdown against Psycho Clown. This epic battle could easily have headlined an AAA Triplemanía event. After delivering a Low Blow, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. unmasked Psycho Clown and pinned him with the devastating Wagner Driver (21:07) securing the win. Following the intense match, Jack Morris confronted Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. backstage and officially declared himself as the next challenger for the National Title. Wrestling fans can look forward to their clash on October 28 at “DEMOLITION STAGE 2023 in FUKUOKA.”
The semi-main saw HAYATA successfully defended his GHC Junior Heavyweight Title in a thrilling encounter against Seiki Yoshioka. HAYATA secured the victory with a Modified Reverse Piledriver (18:49). However, the moment the match concluded, a new challenger emerged. Daga wasted no time in making his intentions clear, declaring himself the next contender for the championship with a attack on the champion.
The Main event saw Go Shiozaki, the victor of the N-1 VICTORY 2023 tournament, face a formidable challenge taking on the defending GHC Heavyweight Champion Jake Lee. Shiozaki was unable, to secure his sixth GHC Heavyweight Title as Jake Lee got the victory after a though battle, Lee managed ti pin Shiozaki (21:06) following a Buckle Bomb, followed by the FBS, allowing him to retain his championship (V4). Following the intense championship bout, Jake Lee wasted no time in announcing his next challenger. He pointed to Kenoh, who had been providing guest commentary at ringside, as his upcoming opponent for the championship match scheduled for October 28 at “DEMOLITION STAGE 2023 in FUKUOKA.” Kenoh who was the runner-up of the N-1 Victory 2023 tournament, enthusiastically accepted the challenge, passionately proclaiming himself as the one who would lead NOAH to the pinnacle of the wrestling world.
