Rey Mysterio’s anticipated leadership of an LWO team at Fastlane was jeopardized when Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde got entangled in a brawl during Mysterio’s match with Bobby Lashley on SmackDown.
Mysterio later shared that Del Toro and Wilde couldn’t participate, hinting at teaming up with Santos Escobar and an undisclosed partner.
According to PWInsider, this twist was crafted to mark Carlito’s return to WWE. Reports from June revealed Carlito had canceled independent bookings, having re-signed with WWE. Initial plans for Carlito’s return on the July 7 SmackDown were nixed due to time constraints. Notably, Carlito made a cameo at the May 6 WWE Backlash event, assisting Bad Bunny against Damian Priest as part of the LWO.
