Yet another surprising backstage departure has been officially confirmed in WWE today (October 9). According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Rich Hering, the recipient of the 2021 Warrior Award, has retired from the company.
Hering, who served as the Senior Vice President of Government Relations and Risk Management, dedicated over 50 years to WWE. His decision to retire was a personal one and not connected to the Endeavor takeover or TKO Group formation cutbacks. Notably, Hering had been planning his retirement for the past couple of years.
The news of Hering’s exit surprised many within the company, given his longstanding commitment as a “lifer” to WWE. In recognition of his substantial contributions, Hering was honored with the Warrior Award in 2021.
