According to a report from Fightful Select, a familiar face made a backstage return to AEW this week. Serena Deeb, the former NWA Women’s Champion, reappeared after nearly a year away during the AEW Collision tapings on Saturday, October 13.
Sources indicate that those familiar with the backstage scene haven’t seen Serena at AEW throughout this year, and her presence at the recent tapings was noteworthy. Serena’s last in-ring appearance was a year ago against Hollyhood Haley J on AEW Dark in Cincinnati. Since then, she hasn’t been featured on AEW TV, involved in creative plans, or seen backstage until her recent return. Notably, she made an appearance at the Cauliflower Alley Club.
The absence was reportedly influenced by two factors, as Fightful Select notes: a significant disagreement with AEW management last year and, more recently, dealing with a challenging injury this year.
