WWE is reportedly eyeing one of Japan’s top joshi stars, Giulia, currently holding the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship. A PWInsider report suggests WWE’s interest in the standout performer from STARDOM.
Giulia, who has been a prominent figure in STARDOM since 2019, recently clinched the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship in July after defeating Willow Nightingale. Although the trajectory hinted at a future clash with Mercedes Moné for the title, Moné’s injury has cast uncertainty over these plans. Initial reports suggested Giulia might join WWE’s Performance Center this month, but subsequent updates have questioned this possibility.
According to Dave Meltzer, Giulia is under contract with STARDOM/NJPW parent company Bushiroad until March 2024. Despite rumors of a WWE PC appearance this month, it’s deemed unlikely, with Giulia’s anticipated US bookings not expected until NJPW Battle in the Valley in January 2024.
