A recent report sheds light on AEW’s optimistic outlook for the return of an injured star. Yuka Sakazaki, who faced a setback with a neck injury earlier this summer, has recently made a comeback in her home promotion, Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling (TJPW).
Despite her injury, Sakazaki, a TJPW star, had previously declared her move to the United States to work full-time with All Elite Wrestling, concluding her stint with Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling. According to insights from Fightful Select (subscription required), Sakazaki remained a backstage presence at AEW events during her recovery period.
The report indicates a hopeful atmosphere within AEW, anticipating Sakazaki’s imminent return. Known for her appearances in AEW since Double Or Nothing 2019, Sakazaki has been a dual contributor to both AEW in the United States and TJPW in Japan.
Notably, Sakazaki’s last match in the United States occurred at ROH Supercard of Honor 2023, where she faced Athena for the ROH Women’s World Championship. As AEW eagerly awaits her return, fans can anticipate the resumption of Sakazaki’s impactful presence in the promotion.
