All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has officially announced that wrestling legend Ric Flair has inked a multi-year deal with the company. Flair, a former NWA, WWF, and WCW World Champion, made a surprising debut on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite alongside Sting, and he will be part of Sting’s upcoming retirement tour.
According to sources close to Flair as reported by Fightful, the deal mirrors the arrangement made with Randy Savage when he joined WCW in the mid-1990s. Similar to Savage’s Slim Jim deal, Flair’s agreement includes a tie-in with his Woooooo! Energy drink, covering a substantial portion, if not the entirety, of Flair’s salary in AEW.
The move echoes wrestling history when Savage’s Slim Jim sponsorship significantly contributed to his WCW salary. AEW sources suggest that beyond the in-ring appearances, the company sees potential in merchandising opportunities, including video games, action figures, and general merchandise, making Flair’s signing a strategic move beyond the surface level.
