AEW Struggling to Generate Ticket Sales for Upcoming “Collision” Dates

According to recent reports from Dave Meltzer on “Wrestling Observer Radio,” All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is facing challenges in selling advance tickets for their upcoming Saturday night show, “AEW Collision.” Despite the company’s announcement of several dates during last week’s episode of “AEW Dynamite,” there seems to be a lack of excitement surrounding these events.

As per Meltzer’s insights, the Newark, New Jersey show scheduled for July 22 has reportedly sold approximately 3,500 tickets so far. Similarly, the Toronto, Ontario, Canada show on June 24, taking place just a day before Forbidden Door II, has reportedly sold around 1,600 tickets. Additionally, a taping on Thursday, June 29, has seen sluggish sales, with less than 600 tickets sold at this point.

AEW President Tony Khan is expected to reveal the venue for the inaugural edition of “Collision” during this week’s episode of “Dynamite.” Speculations suggest that if CM Punk is involved in the event, it will likely take place at the United Center. However, talks with Punk have reportedly hit obstacles, leading the company to consider Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida as a backup venue.

Initially, there were strong rumors surrounding Punk’s return to AEW for the debut of “Collision.” However, just hours before the official announcement of the new show, Punk was allegedly removed from marketing materials. Speculation regarding backstage disagreements between Punk and AEW management has cast doubt on the 44-year-old star’s potential return. AEW likely anticipated increased ticket sales with the announcement of Punk’s involvement, which may still occur, albeit a week later than originally planned.
