Behind-the-Scenes Reaction to NXT Battleground Unveiled

Insight into the backstage reaction among WWE officials to the momentous NXT Battleground event on Sunday, May 28, has been revealed.

NXT Battleground, a name that hadn’t been used since July 2017, proved to be a standout moment for the company, as reported by PW Insider. According to their sources, “NXT officials were absolutely thrilled with the show last night, with some feeling it was the best NXT ‘milestone’ event in some time.” The event garnered high praise, with one source even stating that it was “worlds ahead” of the WrestleMania weekend broadcast.

During WrestleMania weekend, NXT presented Stand & Deliver on April 1, featuring significant matches such as Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn becoming NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions by defeating Fallon Henley and Kiana James. Indi Hartwell also emerged victorious, defeating then-champion Roxanne Perez, Zoey Stark, Gigi Dolin, Lyra Valkyria, and Tiffany Stratton to claim the NXT Women’s Championship.

Following Hartwell’s decision to vacate the NXT Women’s Championship, a match between Tiffany Stratton and Lyra Valkyria was scheduled to determine the new champion and the 100th woman to hold WWE championship gold.

The standout performance of the new NXT Women’s Champion, Tiffany Stratton, received particular praise backstage. Footage captured her being greeted with an ovation from her peers and the legendary Shawn Michaels upon her return backstage.

The backstage reception to NXT Battleground reflects the positive impact the event had on WWE officials. The enthusiasm and satisfaction surrounding the show indicate a successful milestone event for NXT, further establishing its significance within the company’s programming.
